Our Executive Director talks to N. Las Vegas Council about Transitional Housing for people on Parole and Probation.
Ex-offenders are part of our community and they should have every opportunity at rehabilitation.
Providing housing for inmates who have been approved for Parole but don’t have approved housing and remain in custody.
Thanks to North Las Vegas Councilman Isaac Barron, Clark County Commissioner Lawrence Weekly, Clark County District Court Judge Richard Scotti, Edward Bevilacqua with Novum-U and Nevada Department of Parole and Probation, we are able to launch our Housing Program for Parolees. We will provide housing to people who have been granted parole but are still incarcerated because they lack housing. This will also be for those who have been released without being on parolee but still need housing assistance. In order to break the cycle of recidivism ex-offenders must be given the tools needed to successfully re-enter our community and become productive members of society. Thru our partnership with Novum-U residents will have access to education, employment, and counseling services. They have a program that provides employment training and job placement.
Novum-U's neuroscience-oriented curriculum leads to successful habits. With recidivism, at an all time high, people need every opportunity to have a better life. Novum-U's mission is to educate and employ ex-offenders. With our community partners we can provide counselling, housing and meaningful employment that creates purpose in your life.
Our residents are required to enrolled in Novum-U's 90 day program as part of their housing plan.
We exist to provide a second chance to those re-entering society by giving them opportunity in the local community. Providing them with the necessary tools to succeed beyond us. We serve at-risk families by meeting their physical and emotional needs first, then help them structure better lives for a better future.
When residents arrive they receive a $50 credit to go shopping for clothes at Castaways's Thrift Store.
All of our residential locations are approved by the Parole and Probation. We work with their Re-entry department to place inmates who don't have approve housing. We work to streamline the process so inmates don't have to stay over their approved release date.
